Aussie Men’s Team place seventh at 2010 Trial des Nations
Following on from the Women’s event on Saturday, the guys put in a stellar effort – overcoming unfamiliar conditions and riding unfamiliar bikes against some of the best.
While the World Championship Class for National Teams was taken out – not so surprisingly, by Spain, Great Britain, and Italy, the Australian Team consisting of Tim Coleman (Glenmaggie VIC), Colin Zarczynski (Penrith NSW), Neil Price and Lewis Nolan (Perth WA), faced stiff competition from the likes of the Norwegian, Czech and German teams.
Only a handful of points separated Australia from fourth place, with the teams second lap an astonishing 17 points better than the first.
Speaking after the event Coleman said the team worked together so well and was stoked with his first taste of the Trial des Nations.
“It was so good to ride as a team out there,” Coleman said.
“Everyone helps each other out, and having a support crew who were cheering at the end of each of the sections helps you to ride even better.
“It’s such a great feeling when people are cheering you on, it really gets you pumped up and it’s good to have some Aussie support.
“For my first Trial des Nations experience, I’m really happy, I felt I rode well, and I’m happy with how everyone else was riding, so it was all a good team effort and the results aren’t bad!”
Nolan, who also made his debut in the Australian Team, did face some nerves at the beginning of the day, especially with some top teams lining up against the Aussies in the International class, however he was thrilled with the results.
“I was really nervous at the beginning of the day, but as I got into the swing of things it got better,” Nolan said.
“We’d all expected Ireland to be one of the teams to beat and they started just in front of us so we got to watch them on a lot of the sections - we knew we were pretty even with them and ended up beating them by 31 points, but the Norwegian Team were riding brilliantly.
“This has been such a good experience and I definitely want to be back in 2011.”
While the conditions had been a concern coming in to the event, Zarczynski said that they were a lot better when things eventually kicked off.
“The conditions out at the sections were a lot better than when we walked through them on Saturday,” Zarczynski said.
“The water level in the river had dropped overnight so we could actually see what we were riding in which was better, so we weren’t going to drown our bikes and there weren’t as many tree roots as we’d expected which was definitely a bonus!”
Looking ahead to 2011, Price said that while there were some areas the team could work on, everyone did an outstanding job.
“From this event we’ve been able to identify a few areas we can definitely improve, particularly how best to use the minders to our advantage,” Price said.
“It was a good decision for the selectors to select a team with European experience, because it really paid off - there’s a lot of stuff here that back home you never get to ride and the guys here adapted to it very well.
“The points are just so close, and there were a number of unlucky calls, but we weren’t beyond the other teams, it was only a couple of points that separated us from the top four.
“We did really well, the whole team rode awesome, the two young guys adapted to the conditions superbly and adapted to the situation too, so next year we’re going to be even better for sure.”

Luke Patane and support rider Ben Dumitro fought it out in juniors with Luke 2nd and Ben 3rd. Luke took a dip on the last lap on section 9 drowning his bike big time. Luke finished the last on Joel’s bike.

Neil Price Nationals Report
Neil Price 2010 Nationals Report
What an Awesome weekend we had up at
First up I want to thank a few people, firstly to my wife Jessica! She has been an enormous help as always, and all this year in particular and I can't thank her enough! Dad for being the best bloody minder I could ever hope for! He always puts in the same effort as me if not more! Thanks to Tim Alex and Lewis for all the riding we have had together as this has made me pick up my act! Thanks to all the West Aussies those who were in QLD, and those at home, for all their support through out the year in particular with helping us A graders running the Expert series in
Also my apologies to anyone I may have inadvertently ignored, didn't catch up with, or didn't hear, over the weekend. We have a lot to do and when I am focusing I can get a little intense. I also think we need a public holiday on the Monday of every Aussie titles so after we have done the important stuff of riding, we can all get rid of the full years worth of pent up, gas bagging, and dribbling of shit that we all want to do!
I really enjoyed the trial; it was a nice change of scenery to be in the creek bed all the way! What a shame we can't ride there more often! I did miss not having any big steps but, there aren't really any big steps in the creek! The guys did a great job setting the sections, I actually thought on lap one they may have been a little too easy but I think they were spot on! The last few years has seen some really great sections set for the titles, but I am a little sadistic!
We went into the trial trying to be as conservative as possible in the sections because we don't get a lot of slippery stuff in Perth and I was feeling pretty sketchy, to be honest. Every section felt like I could go from a beautiful clean ride to a gumby looking 3 or 5 in a spilt second. I was worried I'd have a good ride but get let down with a few stupid 5's. I was pretty happy with my ride, but in the end I felt I was a little too conservative which cost me a few points. After all these years I still say what if?? Congratulations to Jake what an awesome ride! To drop a lap of 4 points was just insane! He certainly deserved the win.
Well I am now packed and ready for
Hopefully we can report back with some great results!

Team Dynamics Aussie Nats Report
riders placing better than previous nationals. Neil finished 2nd just
behind Kiwi rider Jake Whittaker to finish the best Australian and
claiming the number 1 status in Australia. The slippery conditions at
the Mount Tamborine Thunderbird Park venue had the riders on edge
throughout the two day comp. Neil put in consistent laps in the 20's to
secure his position, lap two, day one being his worst lap. Whilst Neil
didn't win the Australian Championships he is happy to be Number 1 in
Australia.
Lewis finished a very creditable 8th in his second Open Solo Aust Champs
outing. Lewis's first lap cost him dearly whilst he was coming to terms
with the slippery conditions but the rest of his laps showed that he was
on the money and could have easily been contesting for a top 5. This
outing showing clearly that he will be a very valuable Aust TdN Team
member in Poland this year.
Alex who was targeting a top 10 finish, placed 11th in his very first
Open Solo National event. Alex turned a lot of heads showing that he is
clearly a top ten contender. Alex battled with the slippery conditions
but showed them all up on the big step on section 8, day two that had a
number of the big names tumbling down.
Tim's lack of bike time cost him points but he had his best ever
National finish, placing 13th, unlucky for some. Tim's natural riding
style served him well in the slippery conditions. Tim just rode over
rocks that other riders where either avoiding or where being spat off.
On day one Tim got through section 3 on both laps where all the big
names where crashing out with 5's.
Young Luke did it tough in his first ever National Championships. Day
One was a shocker for the juniors with Luke close to maximum points but
he toughed it out and found day two a bit easier. He finished with a
clean or two under his belt and a big grin on his face that he can be
proud of.
Congratulations to all team riders and thanks to the minders Leo, Dave,
Paul and Simon and to the girls, Sue, Jess Tayla and Rachel for feeding
us and pampering us.

Oz Moto Events is committed to providing the public this new and exciting event. Technical and Productions issues with some of the man made sections have resulted in delays.
Oz moto really wants the sponsors, ticket holders and the sport to be well served with the right production of the event so unfortunately we have had to delay the Championship. Rider and venue availability will allow the event to be staged later this year. All tickets sold thus far will be honoured on the new date.

2010 Gas Gas Trials Bikes released
Gas Gas have released full details of their 2010 range of MotoTrials bikes. Because the bikes had major changes for 2009 with the new tubular frame (which has been an outstanding success)….. the 2010 models are simply ‘improved and refined’.
The Pro range now performs incredibly well, being the outstanding performance trials bike in the field, and is extremely reliable.
The new 2010s look stunning with a bright red frame, black plastics, new red stickers and an eye for detail in all the parts. Then the factory then topped it off with colour anodised rims, and other parts, in a cool titanium colour.
The quality S3 real Titanium front header pipe is now supplied as standard on all Pros.
The PRO 250cc , 280cc , and 300cc will also feature the new S3 ‘two-piece’ cylinder heads, These allow the customer to change from low / medium / or high compression inserts to alter the performance of the engine easily for varying conditions or personal set-up.
The PRO125 will get the new crankshaft that is fitted to the RAGA-125 which is a big improvement. The new 125 will have a new carburettor.
There are many other small improvements that altogether make quite a difference for 2010.

Indoor Moto Trial to Rock Perth in 2010
This will be the first event to be run by a newly developed consortium, developed by Moto Dynamics. The event will be a single round in Perth in 2010 and then the intent is to develop from there in to a multi round series.
This is a partnership that has been developed by Moto Dynamics and sees Neil and Simon Price along with Barry Barton (Barry is a long time passionate trials rider) partnered with some of the best event management and promotions people in Australia. This first round will be a single event that is to basically show off what is possible with Indoor Moto Trials to financial backers. If this round goes well the intent is then to develop into a genuine Australian Championship series taking in each capital city, and then possibly an Oceania series. This will create exposure for the sport and riders, and in turn an opportunity to gain genuine sponsors.
For this event to run well we need the support of the Trials riding community! Get yourself to Perth and check out the best riders in the country!!
