What to do when the trials season is over?

No trials at the moment, nothing to do, Lewis and Alex have the answer. Have a look at this video Lewis made. I'm happy to say nobody died to make this happen----except a few rear wheels---- Lewis has had some keen interest from sponsors so I hope it goes somewhere for him

Kalgoorlie 2 Day

This years Kalgoorlie 2 day enduro turned out to be a great event. It's just a fun event to wind up the year and a good reason to drive to Kal to ride your bike all weekend! Paul and myself were on the Beta 450's and Simon was on Andy Sutcliffe's KTM 200. Andy must be a very trusting person because even though Simon is getting on a bit he still doesn't mind to give any bike a test to it's limits. On day 1 we were joined by two of Simon's work mates Sean and Nick, Nick is quite new to it all and I'm not sure if he knew what he was in for!

Day 1 was a 175 km loop which doesn't sound very big but believe me it was hard work. Most of it was boggy sand, and after only a few km's your already looking forward to the next fuel stop for a rest. It didn't take Paul long to find grief, on the first checkpoint Paul crashed and hurt his ankle which hasn't healed from the last two events. Simon rode really well considering it was really his first proper ride on an enduro bike. He scared the absolute shit out me during the race. I thought I had a big gap between myself and Dad on one of the wide open stages so I backed off the gas a little bit to relax, when out of no where Dad screamed past me as if i was standing still and at the time i would of been sitting on 100kph! We all managed to finish with no dramas, not many riders finished day 1 due to overheating bikes and riders. Everyone was quite sedate on Saturday night which is known to be a wild night. We only had a few drinks and crashed quite early.

Day 2 ended up being a lot easier and shorter. The loop was only about 110 km's. Paul decided to give day 2 a miss because of his ankle being a bit sore, That worked perfectly for Simon and I. We rode while paul stayed back and packed up the van. The tracks on day 2 were a lot faster, at some points everything is just a blur at top gear flat out. I had a few scares throughout the day but at one stage i hit a tree root at full noise and i thought i was stuffed. Luckily i rode out of it with a new respect on how quickly your luck can change. I thought of going back and warning Simon of the tree root, but i also realised being a lot older he should also be a lot wiser and go a little slower. Now I know he certainly isn't wiser because he hit the tree root as well!

It ended up being a great weekend, a big thanks to Andy Sutcliffe for lending Simon the KTM 200. Andy is mad because he rode his old Bultaco and certainly put everyone to shame on their new bikes. Our bikes also went the whole weekend without missing a beat, considering the heat and the difficulty of the event I couldn't be happier.

A PICTURE IN THE MAIL........

The driver of a certain "beta van" recently was lucky enough to receive a photo of himself, driving said van, in the post!!!!!!!!!!!  Now was he happy about that---------but wait there's more, drivers "friend" following in a very nice Holden ute, also a beta rider, was lucky enough to receive his own photo in the post!!!!!!!!!! also verrrrry happy. Above mentioned persons cannot be named for illegialite reasons .

Simon Paul amd Tim Kalgoolie Two Day Enduro

Simon Paul and Tim are off to the Kalgoolie Two Day Enduro this weekend 7 & 8th Nov. The event is angled towards being more of a fun event rather than a serious one. The camp spot is 75km from Kalgoolie with approx 250km loops each day. Simon is on a sponsored KTM 200 courtesy of Andy Sutcliff, Tim is on the 08 Beta 450 and Paul is on his 09 beta race450. This will be Simons 1st proper ride on a enduro bike and a 1st ride on a KTM. Tim rode this event back in 2005 on a old WR 400. I think Paul and Tim will have problems keeping up Simon.

Neil dislocates shoulder

Neil has dislocated his shoulder in practise. After returning from his honeymoon keen to get back on the bike he has been out on it but a minor get off went wrong. He landed backwards on a rock with his shoulder causing it to dislocate. This is his bad shoulder which has been out more times than we can remember. This will keep him off the bike for while but no more than is needed. With Tim's shoulder out at the Nats its not been a good year in this regard.

Neil and Jess made it back ok from their honeymoon. They visited the Ducati factory and Jess said Neil spent more money there than she did on all her shopping trips. Now its back to work and normal boring things.

TIM SURPRISES ON HIS FIRST TIME OUT

As previous posted Tim and I competed in the Pinjarra natural terrain MX on the weekend. I was very surprised with the outcome. I don’t like to admit it but on Tims first outing on an enduro bike he managed to bet me to the flag in the first 2 races of the 4 race schedule. The next 2 races would have to have a different outcome to keep my reputation in tact. I was able to fend off Tims attack through out both 3 lap races to finish just in front each time. Un sure the positions in the first 2 races but race 3, I came in 9th followed closely by Tim in 11th, and race 4 saw me come in 8th and Tim very shortly after in 9th. In race 4 Tim took a different tactic off the line by picking a outer lane which was pretty much unused. He got a really good start and was sitting in 5th place and keeping up with the top boys. He made a little mistake near the end of the first lap and binned it in a corner. This is a massive effort for a first timer, good work Tim. A big thanks goes out to Sherice and Tayla for coming down and supporting us.

BETA TAKES ON THE PINJARRA NATURAL TERRAIN MX

Tomorrow Tim and I will be competing at the Pinjarra senior natural terrain motocross. This will be Tims first event aboard an enduro bike, he will be riding the teams spare 2008 450cc beta. After a little practice and setup session today Tim told me that he is quite nervous about the event, but I bet they will all disappear as soon as the gates drop. We will both be riding the headlight/enduro class.

If you are not attending the trial tomorrow and are looking for something to do on a sunny Sunday come down and check it out. Racing from 10:30am, food van, toilets on site.

From Pinjarra.....
Head East on the Pinjarra-Williams Rd for approx 12km. Turn right into Burnside Rd. Approx 500 mtrs turn right into Rosenthall Rd. Look for the Junior Offroad Riding Signs & Blue Arrows. Allow 1 hour from Armadale.

State Enduro Rounds 4 & 5

On the weekend was the 4th and 5th state enduro rounds down in and around Mornington mills just south of Harvey. Sunday and day one was blessed with fine but cool weather which was perfect for riding. I finished the day in 6th position in the E2 class, taking some advice from a fellow enduro/trials rider, Peter Pringle help me to get into the 6th spot. Over night we had some heavy rain, which would make it interesting for the second day. It fined up for the start and held off all day. The rain made the remote test extra grippy and fast but intern made the camp test ultra slippery. In result I had a bit of a moment and ended up getting into a fight with a couple of trees, I ended up worse off but you should have see the state of the trees. By the time I finished the next trail section I was in too much pain and couldn’t change gear so my day was over. A bit a of a bad ending for a awesome weekend.

A big thanks to Tim and Tayla for coming down and helping out with timing and for feeding me on Sunday night.

PAUL CRASHES OUT

Paul unfortunately wasn't able to finish Day 2 of the State Enduro Championship after trying to hug a tree at high speed! Before crashing out Paul rode a consistent Day 1 finishing 6th in E2 class and 10th outright. Luckily Paul is ok, only just some bruising but now his focus is to get fit for the Natural Terrain Motocross in Pinjarra on the 11th of October.

Alex does photo shoot for Community News

Alex was interviewed and did a photo shoot today with the Community News Group. Naturally the interview focused on his Aust Junior Title. The photo shoot was done at Alex's secret practise spot. The photographer couldnt believe what Alex was riding up and over seeing his first glimps of moto trials. He is keen to see more trials action.
