hELLO

well in the trial I rode better than last weekend, but stiLl much the same
the sections werent as hard as they looked in the rain, as it was a really nice fine day.
on my 2nd lap I managed four cleans, one 1, fours 3's, and six 5's compaired to 1st lap of one clean, two 1's, one 2,four 3's, and seven 5's.
I was happy with the 4 cleans! .
also on about three sections, I rode clean through most of the hard stuff, then ended up 5ing or dabbing for 3 on really easy bits. very annoying
so if I got it all together I think I could make my score alot lower
was fun tho! very slippery!
The lap was huge,  on the first lap I occured 51pts plus 9pts time penalty, 2nd lap was better with 43pts and only 2pts on time, so I need to be quicker next time. on the 2nd lap u dont even look at most sections. just ride them
I also got very tired on the 2nd lap, this cost me many points also, the sections are very tiring as there is no room or time to have a break like in australia. most sections are very long, I timed out once or twice.
So overall  I finished with a score of 94pts plus 11pts on time total of 105pts which placed me 22nd out of 26 starters.
Now its back to Pons place in Barcelona to clean an check the bike an practise, practise, practise ready for more!!!.
Note from Mum,Dad an Alex, Great ride Lewis, congratulations on finishing 22nd in a World championship Junior event.Great effort!!!.

Jeroni Fajardo Wins in Andorra

Fajardo(Beta) scores his first No 1 podium spot in Andorra. Jeroni lead after the first lap with a brilliant lap of only 8 points compared with Raga and Bou(15 points) who finished equal second on the first lap.  Jeroni improved further dropping only 4 points on the second lap, clearly stamping his authority on the event.

Andorra is awsum!
we are soooo high in the mountains, its way nice.
today in practice it was awsum
I trained in the same section, just slightly easier than some of the world guys!
same line as some of the world junior and 125 riders
its crazy tho, cos I practicin this section, and like infront of me is jeroni fajardo, then right behind me loris gubian!
it was pretty cool
I have had the barrel off my bike twice today, changing the base gaskets to cope with the altitude! haha

we walked sections today....
they are so bloody hard! ah
I think ill be lucky if I even get through one section!
seriously
they are hard as
some sections are in this big rocky river, the rest in the forests
soooooooooooo insanely slippery! haha
the lap is awsum tho
its huge and like a massive trail ride
this mornin was hot, so when we go walk sections I have a t shirt on...
then it poured and hailed! I was sooooo cold.

when we drove here it hailed heaps, looked like snow everywhere! haha
oh at every event me sam and seoung help set the truck up, like the enclosed room and stuff
so last nite albert cabestanys mechanic (he is so nice) took us out for dinner
so we were eatin with albert cabestany! he is really nice.
and toni bou, he is nice to, always waves and says hi .

oh guess what also, at this place it is also a mountain bike park!
there is a hugeee foam pit!
massive dirt jumps
and like downhill tracks with northshore stuff
its awsum wish I had my norco haha

Hey all,
Went to the ducati factory yesterday! Absolutly awesome! The guide was
in love with bayliss, the whole time she was talking to me and Tayla
about troy and the factory and museum tour both finished off with
bayliss bike replicas! He was so loved because he spoke Italian and he
use to wander the whole factory talking to everyone! We stayed in a
4star hotel that night just around from the factory, for only 60 euro
which is cheap! Drove to the beta factory the next day. We did a tour of the
new factory, it's so professional!
Caught up with, Alessio, luca and ricardo, they must live there! Finished
off and said goodbyes and headed off to the camping ground norcenni
girasole club, holy shit it is amazing! It's 4 star so it has
everything. And it only costs us 30 euro a night! Don't wanna leave
but we will head off to Rome camping tomorrow, Hope all is well
back home, can't wait too see ya's all!
Cya soon TNT

hello! everyone

today I still  did not ride that well, it is pretty hard cos sections are soooooooooooooo slippery, and on very steep hills.

on my 2nd lap i catch up to all the top riders, i was in the line right next to them,it was pretty cool haha, they were asking like can i go first like hellll putting pressure on me, i just let them in  because they were only on their 1st lap, they were like thankyou thankyou haha.
my riding is getting better tho .
In section 13 in the river, i went
to foot, but I fell in this huge hole in the river, i got saturated from shoulders down,It was a bit embarrasing , the water was helllll cold
On lap 1 I dropped 62 points ,lap 2 only 55 points to finish28th out of 34 starters. The last 5 riders failing to finish.
My final score was 117 pts. only 46 behind Laia Sanz in 17th place on 71 pts.
Once I finished and had something to eat, Joan and I went and watched the top guys on their 2nd lap. awsome to watch, Raga won,Fuji 2nd and Bou 3rd.
Now its back to Pons place for a weeks training then off to Andorra for the next world round.

Lewis survives first euro championship event.

i didnt  ride nearly my best, was pretty nervous, i had many good rides, clean to the end, then stuff up on the easiest bit and get 5s
some sections are just sooooooooooooo slippery
first lap i dropped 59,  and think i was like 25th outta 37 starters
2nd lap i ride so so so bad,I dropped 71pts, and end up 31st
hopefully go better tomorrow  at the world round

i am going out for dinner with tim and tayla tonite,  He was hell nice running after me on the first four sections giving me water and stuff and just being there. It was good just to have them there for my first ride in Europe.

Tim proposes to Tayla in France

Tim popped the question to Tayla in the French Alps and she said yes.  Tim said she nearly fell off the mountain when he popped the question.  We weren’t expecting it, congrats and all the best for the future from us all at Moto Dynamics.

can always see bou just by the spectators. Lewy rode pretty well, very
nervous both days! Tough considering he just hopped off the plane
and truck! Haha, I think joan can see a lot of potential in lewy!
The world guys have been struggling, bou finished his first lap on
bout 30! Will write bigger email later. Gotta go later

Nolan Brothers 1 & 2 at Blackwood Two Day

Lewis and Alex took out the prestige’s Blackwood Two day.  Lewis had the top spot on the podium with Alex runner up.  Alex along with Neil, Tristian Lowe, Luke and Joel Patane put on an impressive display on Saturday at the IGA shopping Centre in Donnybrook.  This was a promotional display as a lead up to the two day event, Sun/Mon.  Frank Patane (Patane Transport) who sponsors and organises the Blackwood Two Day, organised a very good array of concrete products, plus a truck trailer for the boys to ride over.

The Blackwood this year was run a bit different, with 14 sections each day.  Lewis relished the tight technical sections and enjoyed the 14 section layout.  This would be good practice for when he heads to Europe, except the sections will without a doubt be a little bit bigger over there.  Alex was hot on his heels and it won’t be long before they are going head to head.  Lewis has really stepped up, Neil only rode day one due to work commitments, they only had 8 points separating them on day one.

Lewis off to Europe soon

Lewis is flying out on Tuesday 16th June, his last ride here in WA will be at Prestige Two at Burkeup 14th June until he returns to WA just in time for the State Champs in Sept.  Lewis will miss the Australian Championships in NSW.  He will be spending approx 3 months in Europe training and travelling to the European and World Championships with Joan Pons Trials School.  Lewis will be contesting juniors in both the European and World Championships.  His first events will be the Italian Euro and World Champs where Tim and Tayla will catching up with him.  From there it will be, World round in Andorra, Euro and World Champs in Spain, Spanish Championships and then the World Champs in France, then back home for the WA State Champs.  We wish Lewis all the best with what will be a fantastic experience and adventure,  have a great ride.

Tim and Tayla in Europe

Tim and Talya flew out on Wednesday night for a 6 week holiday cruising around Europe.  First main stop is Florence, Italy, from there they will be going to the Italian Moto GP, lucky mongrel.

Lewis will be off to Spain in a couple of weeks to spend a number of months training with Joan Pons.  Lewis will be competing in a number of European events as well as a few world rounds.  Tim will catching up with Lewis at one of the World Rounds(can’t remember which one), will let you know.  We wish them good travelling and heaps of fun.

Beta Rev-4T

We had the 2008 Beta Rev-4T Racing available for test ride at Prestige 1, it was interesting for me because i had only ridden the Beta 4 stroke only few times before. The main thing which surprised me was the acceleration. I took it out for a quick ride before the trial and lined up for a step which i had done a thousand times before. I gave it a heap of throttle just to make sure and the bike almost put me on my arse. I found it very strange to ride coming off a 2 stroke but i think the 4 stroke is something i could get use to pretty quickly. Everyone i spoke to who took it for a ride gave very positive feed back, the only thing that people who usually ride 2 strokes had trouble with was starting it. I found you just have to remember not to touch the throttle at all and only give gentle kicks. We will have the Rev-4 at the next two trials for more test rides and then it will be sent back over east after the Blackwood 2 Day.

Beta 4 Stroke Information

THE NEW REV 4-STROKE

In the world of motorcycling there is now no getting away from problems connected with the environmental impact of emissions, and the corresponding restrictions. A direct consequence of this is the progressive shift from 2-stroke to 4-stroke engines, which over the last few years has also started to affect the off-road sector. The trial has been the last bastion of the 2-stroke because of the engine’s undisputed capacity to combine lightness, compactness and torque right from low revs, but it has recently seen the appearance of 4-stroke motors, which are however often derived from other applications (principally motocross). Beta, with its long tradition of specialising in trials, now introduces the first 4-stroke engine designed, developed and dedicated entirely to trials. The all-new 250cc 4-stroke engine will power the new REV and will stand side by side with the traditional 2-stroke configuration, the tried and trusted warhorse of the Beta range.

Main features:
> Lightness, compactness and reliability. The designers have devoted their main efforts to containing weight and dimensions. The result is a power unit with characteristics as similar as possible to those of the Beta 2-strokes of the last few years. With a weight of only 23 kg, the new engine compares favourably with the 2-stroke of the same capacity. This lightness and compactness, however, has been achieved without compromising the design brief, which was to create a modern 4-stroke engine delivering the highest standards of reliability.

> Lubrication. Lubrication is taken care of by two separate oilpumps. This leads to an increase in the overall efficiency of the oil circuit. The output pump picks up oil from the gearbox area and delivers it to the head and barrel, crank and conrod. The second or scavenge pump returns it to the gearbox to restart the cycle. This dual circuit, as well as the number of oil jets in crucial positions and the sheer quantity of oil in the system, ensures optimum circulation and improved cooling of the parts involved in combustion, and this results in an increase in the mechanical reliability of the engine.

> Controlled pressure. The reliability of the lubrication circuit is ensured by a maximum pressure valve, located immediately after the output oil pump. This valve monitors oil flow, and if the pressure exceeds 3.5 bar the valve opens to reduce the flow. The way the valve operates also allows the oil pressure to be regulated on the basis of its density in such a way as to ensure optimum lubrication in all running conditions (for example, at startup as opposed to when hot).

> Complex ramifications of the oil system. The lubrication circuit supplying the new 4-stroke engine makes use of a series of steel pipes built into the engine castings themselves (the output pipes are in the right-hand crankcase, the scavenge pipes in the left). This solution enables the motor to be made more compact and eliminates the need for external oilpipes.

> Dedicated trials gearbox. A huge amount of work was invested in the design of the gearbox, developed from scratch specifically for this discipline. It is a 5-speed box for 100% trials use: The 1st, 2nd and 3rd are designed for section riding and negotiating obstacles. The 4th and 5th are intended for use in moving between sections. In deciding the dimensions of the gearbox, the main objective was the maximum possible weight saving, but generous safety factors were still applied so that lightness was not achieved at the cost of reliability. Increased reliability was also obtained by the use of suitably positioned oil jets to provide continuous optimal lubrication to the gearbox. The gearbox is also capable of potential further development by the addition of a sixth gear in future applications.

> Better contact. It is a well-known fact that lubrication of the camshaft and of the cam-follower surfaces of the rockers is often critical. To eliminate the consequent wear problems and to increase the general reliability of the timing system on the new 4-stroke, the camshaft is housed in ball bearings. In the same way, the traditional cam-follower surfaces of the rockers have been replaced by roller bearings, which improve contact with the camshaft.

> Designed to grow. While the strength of the new 4-stroke engine consists in the design work which went into equipping it for trials, it was also developed with a view to being able to give birth to a series of motors for the twin sport of mountain riding. From the same base unit, it will be possible to derive 250 and 400cc motors which, with suitable modifications (6-speed box, balancer shaft, EFI and electric start), will power a new generation of modern mountain bikes.

> Quietness. The new 4-stroke engine is exceptionally quiet, both in terms of mechanical noise and of gas dynamics, setting new standards for 4-stroke competition. Low environmental impact does not just mean reduction of harmful emissions. It also concerns the general quietness of the vehicle, a quality which all trials riders appreciate as they journey into nature.

> Rider-friendliness and feel. Much has been written about how trials changes the rider’s attitude to the bike and the experience and sensations of riding. The team which designed and tested the new REV 4T worked hard to preserve the same feeling of confidence which is universally agreed to be a feature of the way the 2T behaves, the same perception of immediacy and symbiosis between rider and machine. A significant example of this is the work which went into the carburettor and throttle control: the result of this development work is a perfect dialogue between bike and rider. Each time the throttle is opened it transmits exactly the expected response to the rider, a sensation of immediacy and oneness with the machine which has never before been experienced on a 4-stroke trials bike.

> Low minimum revs. Anyone who rides trials appreciates the value of a well-calibrated lower end to the rev range: in the sections, the detailed movements, the split-seconds of reflection before tackling an obstacle, require the ability to pause at tickover with a minimum of movement. When the moment comes to open the throttle, the well-thought-out carburation of the new REV 4T ensures a full and smooth power delivery, with no holding-back or holes in the rev range.

> Balance. Important design work was also done on the engine-to-frame mounting points. The engine is secured to the main beam of the frame by drop-arms, and it is positioned in such a way as to reduce to a minimum the vibrations transmitted to the rider, thereby increasing riding pleasure.

> High centre of gravity. The centre of gravity of the new REV 4T has been moved noticeably higher so as to offer the rider maximum handling feel for trials riding. The new overall weight distribution instils more confidence when negotiating obstacles.
